Nigerian troops confronting Boko Haram terrorists in restive northeastern state of Borno said on Tuesday that it had rescued 30 persons from suspected terrorists as a follow up to its operations in Dikwa town.

A deputy spokesperson for the Nigerian Army Col. Tukur Gusau said in a statement reaching Xinhua in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial center that the rescued persons included 21 children and seven women. (Nigeria-Hostage Rescue)

ROME -- At least one worker was killed and two others were injured as a dome of a church under restoration in central Italy collapsed on Tuesday, local reports said.

The victim, aged 53 according to la Repubblica newspaper, was working for a local construction company repairing the church of Pietracatella, a town in Molise region, after it was damaged in a 2002 earthquake. (Italy-Church Collapse)

BRATISLAVA -- A solider was killed on Tuesday in a military helicopter crash in eastern Slovakia, a senior official confirmed.

The crash of the Mi-17 near the village of Hradisko in eastern Slovakia on Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of one of the three crew members, said Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces Peter Gajdos here later in the day. (Slovakia-Helicopter Crash)

NEW DELHI -- At least two people were killed and many people trapped in debris after a four-story building collapsed in Thane near the Indian financial hub Mumbai Tuesday night, said local media.

Local TV channel Times Now said at least two were confirmed dead in the incident, the second such incident in less than a week in a major Indian city after five were killed in a building collapse in New Delhi earlier this month. (India-Building Collapse)

CAIRO -- At least 25 people were killed and 22 others injured in a fire that caught a furniture factory at Al-Obour district of Egypt's Qalioubiya province north of the Egyptian capital Cairo, Egyptian Health Ministry's spokesman Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar told Xinhua.

"Nineteen of the injured people have been discharged from hospitals and three are still intensive care," the Health Ministry's spokesman added, noting that the deaths and the injuries resulted from burns and suffocation cases. (Egypt-Fire) Endi
