Indian chief minister cancels meeting with Pakistan envoy following terror attack

Xinhua, July 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

In the wake of the terror attack in the northwest Indian town of Gurdaspur Monday, Chief Minister of the state of Punjab Prakash Singh Badal has cancelled a scheduled meeting with Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit, said local daily The Hindustan Times Tuesday.

The Pakistan envoy was scheduled to visit Chandigarh, state capital of Punjab where Monday's terror attack took place, later this week.

Three unidentified terrorists stormed a police station in Dinanagar in Punjab's Gurdaspur district on Monday, killing seven people and wounding 10 others.

Indian officials said the three militants were suspected to be from Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terror outfit.

Among the dead was a police superintendent, Baljit Singh, and three security personnel and three civilians. The three terrorists were also killed in the 11-hour confrontation with Indian security forces.

Pakistan has condemned the attack but has not responded to Indian accusation of involvement of the Pakistani terror group. Endi
