Singapore stocks close 1.17 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 39.23 points, or 1.17 percent, to close at 3,313.42.

A total of 1.74 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 982 million Singapore dollars (722 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 403 to 93, while 448 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 3.72 points, or 0.11 percent, to close at 3, 352.65 on Friday. Endi
