Scores of Syrians arrested in Lebanon on terror, illegal entry charges

The Lebanese army said on Saturday that it has arrested more than 50 Syrian nationals on terrorism charges and illegal entry into the country.

The military said in a statement that 44 Syrian nationals in the vicinity of capital Beirut, and a number of northern towns for failures to provide papers proving their legal status.

Meanwhile, two hooded Syrians opened fire at a military patrol in the region of Qaa on Friday night. They were wounded in the fire exchange and were later taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The armed forces said on Saturday that the two wounded gunmen were arrested on suspicions of belonging to a terrorist organization, adding that five other Syrians were also detained but for illegal entry into Lebanon. Enditem
