At least nine people including a local chief have been killed in the latest village attack by Boko Haram in Nigeria's northeastern Borno State, a military source told Xinhua Saturday.

The military source who craved anonymity said the attack was carried out late Thursday, in Pompari Village, the homestead of Nigeria's army chief, Major General Tukur Buratai. (Nigeria-Attack)

KABUL -- Two bomb blasts by anti-government militants against police injured 13 people including 10 civilians on Saturday in Afghanistan.

Abdul Khalil Asir, spokesman of the northern Takhar province said that a blast occurred in the province's capital Taluqan, 245 km north of the national capital, at 03:15 p.m. local time, leaving nine persons including eight civilians injured. (Afghanistan-Bomb)

ISLAMABAD -- At least three people including two women were killed when a 5.5-magnitude quake hit Pakistan's capital Islamabad and parts of the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday morning, local media and Met office said.

Express News said that the three people of a same family were killed when their house collapsed due to strong tremors in Abbottabad, a district located some 110 km north of the country's capital Islamabad. (Pakistan-Earthquake)

BAGHDAD -- At least eight people were killed and 40 others wounded on Saturday in bomb attacks in a town in Iraq's northern central province of Salahudin, a local police source said.

The attack occurred in the afternoon in the town of Tuz-Khurmato, when a booby-trapped motorcycle went off near the building of a swimming pool, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. (Iraq-Bomb)

ANKARA -- A total of 15 workers at a power plant in Turkey's eastern Sirnak province were kidnapped by Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants Saturday Morning, only hours after Turkish warplanes bombed the group's camps in Iraq late Friday, local Dogan News Agency reported.

The report said a group of PKK members abducted these workers after firing at the plant, adding that the police were sent to the scene, while an investigation has been underway. (Turkey-Kidnap) Endi
