French defender Philippe Mexes' stunning volley-ball in the second-half gifted AC Milan a 1-0 victory over their arch-rival Inter Milan in the International Champions Cup here on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, stars of both sides such as Mauro Icardi, Riccardo Montolivo started to come off the bench in the second half.

Mexes put Milan ahead as the 33-year-old defender shot a brilliant volley outside the box from Giacomo Bonaventura's corner in the 62nd minute.

The substitute Antonio Nocerino was sent off after the midfielder brought down Inter's Geoffrey Kondogbia in the 87th minute.

"It is a hard-won game under this temperature. I should congratulate my players, and my team are recovering their confidence, we are trying to come back on track," said Sinisa Mihajlovic, the manager of AC Milan. Endi
