ANKARA -- One Turkish soldier was killed and two others wounded in southern Turkey by gun fire from the Syrian side of the border on Thursday, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
The attack occurred in the border area of southern Kilis province of Turkey, and the gun fire came from the area under the control of Islamic State (IS) in Syria, according to the report. (Turkey-IS)

BUCHAREST -- The "pro-European" parties in Moldova's parliament on Thursday signed the agreement on the formation of the ruling alliance and the name of the future prime minister will be made public later on the day.
The leaders of the Liberal Democratic Party, Democratic Party and Liberal Party signed the agreement reached among the three parties on Tuesday, according to which the prime minister would be from the Liberal Democrats, and the speaker from the Democrats, while the head of state will be elected by consensus following an initiative by the Liberals. FAIZABAD, Afghanistan -- Afghan security forces repulsed Taliban attack on the strategically important Wardoj district in Badakhshan province with Faizabad as its capital 315 km northeast of Kabul on Thursday, deputy to provincial police chief Sakhidad Haidary said.
"A group of Taliban rebels attacked security checkpoints in Tirgaran area of Wardoj district early Thursday triggering gun battle which lasted for a while and militants after leaving several bodies behind fled away," Haidary told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Taliban)

DAMASCUS -- At least 22 militants with the Islamic State (IS) group were killed separately in northern Syria Thursday, a monitor group reported.
