Iceland's unemployment down in June

Iceland's unemployment rate stood at 2.9 percent in June 2015, registering a year-on-year decrease of 1.7 points, according to a labor force survey issued Thursday by Statistics Iceland.

The survey showed that the number of people in the labor force market in June was 202,200, of which 5,800 people were unemployed.

Seasonally-adjusted data showed that in June, the number of unemployed people amounted to 6,100, decreasing by 2,500 from May. The unemployment rate was 3.2 percent in June compared to 4.4 percent in May.

The trend for seasonally adjusted data in the last six months showed that the unemployment rate has decreased by 0.2 points and by 0.8 points for the last 12 months.

Seasonal adjustment is a statistical method for removing the seasonal component of a time series that is used when analyzing non-seasonal trends. Enditem
