Tokyo shares open higher on weaker yen

Tokyo issues opened higher Thursday on the yen's slight retreat against U.S. dollars.

At 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 91.35 points, or 0.44 percent, from Wednesday to 20,685.02.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 8.25 points, or 0.50 percent, to 1,663. 62. Endi
