Hertha Berlin snap up Freiburg' s Vladimir Darida

Xinhua, July 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

Vladimir Darida joins Hertha Berlin from relegated side Freiburg, the "Hauptstadtclub" confirmed in an official statement on Saturday.

Berlin signed their second new arrival of the summer transfer window. The 24-year-old midfielder penned a four-year deal, which keeps him with "Hertha" until June 2019, and received the shirt number 6.

"Vladimir Darida is a young, yet experienced, variable player who can give our team an important impulse," Berlin' s sporting director Michael Preetz said.

The Czech Republic international played since 2013 for Freiburg to score nine goals in 54 appearances. Aside from that, Darida is since 2012 part of Czech Republic' s national team where he made 25 caps.

"I am looking forward to my new task at Berlin. After good talks with those responsible I agreed on the transfer. Playing in Berlin' s Olympia stadium in front of the Hertha supporters is exciting and a challenge at the same time," the new arrival told the club' s official homepage.

Berlin see Augsburg in the first round of Bundesliga on August 15. Endi
