Indian security forces killed a woman rebel in the eastern state of Chhattisgarh late on Friday, days after four policemen were kidnapped and killed by the rebels in the same state, according to local media.

The rebel was gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district, the Press Trust of India reported.

The media quoted Police Inspector General, Bastar Range, S. R. P. Kalluri as saying that a joint squad of Special Task Force and District Reserve Group, belonging to the state police, was on a " combing operation" against the rebels when the encounter took place.

After the gunfight, the body of a woman rebel, identified as Janki, was found along with two rifles. Endi
