BiH army sends helicopters to tame raging forest fire

Xinhua, July 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) military on Friday sent two helicopters to help put out raging forest fire in the southwestern region of the country.

The fire, which started on Tuesday, spread quickly on Friday due to high temperatures and winds, said a fireman at the scene.

No one was injured so far, and no homes nearby were threatened, local authority said. Firefighters from nearby towns like Bileca, Gacko and Ljubinje came to help.

Firefighters hoped the fire could be controlled on Saturday morning, but the situation could become worse at any moment with persistent scorching temperature.

Meanwhile, investigation was underway at the scene for the causes of the fire. Enditem
