Kyrgyz security service arrests five suspected terrorists in capital

Xinhua, July 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Kyrgyz security service said it arrested five suspected international terrorists and killed two others here in the capital on Thursday in two special operations.

According to the press service of the National Security State Committee (NSSC), the suspects had planned to carry out a series of bombing attacks against prayers during Friday's Eid al-Fitr celebration in Kyrgyzstan.

The first operation, carried out on the outskirts of Bishkek, killed two suspects, while the second, in the center of Bishkek, ended with the arrest of five after a firefight, said the NSSC.

The sites of the operations were still cordoned off on Friday morning, and some special services officers were busy cleaning up and conducting investigations.

Local media reported that the suspected terrorists are related to Islamic State and other extremist terrorist organizations. Endi
