Spanish treasury places 6.392 bln euros on market

The Spanish treasury on Thursday placed treasury bonds worth 6.392 billion euros (6.95 billion U.S. dollars) on the market registering a high demand of more than 11 billion euros.

A total of 2.301 billion euros worth of three-year treasury bonds carried an average interest rate of 0.395 percent, falling from the 0.409 percent of the previous issue.

A further 2.198 billion euros worth of 10-year treasury bonds carried an average interest rate of 2.099 percent, falling from the 2.349 percent of the previous issue.

The placement also included 877 million euros worth of 15-year treasury bonds that carried an average interest rate of 2.627 percent, which was above the 2.311 percent of the previous issue.

Finally, the treasury placed 1.016 billion euros worth of 30-year treasury bonds that carried an average interest rate of 3.177 percent, falling from the previous 3.455 percent.

After the auction, Spain's risk premium stood at 122 points and Spain's 10-year bond interest rate stood at 2.016 percent.

The Spanish treasury will hold another auction before the end of July and four more in August. Endit
