Xinhua, July 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

Egyptian army killed 22 militants in North Sinai on Thursday, an army spokesman said.

The army's air raid also destroyed the hotbed where the terrorists gathered in the al Laftat village in Sheikh Zuwaid, North Sinai.

Clashes have been common between the army and terrorists in Sinai since 2013 when former President Mohamed Morsi was ousted by the military after mass protests against his one-year rule.

On July 1, the military killed 100 terrorists in Sinai while 17 army troops were killed and 13 others injured in confrontations. Endit
