Espanyol coach Gonzalez opens door for Casilla's Real Madrid move

Espanyol coach Sergio Gonzalez opened the door on Wednesday for goalkeeper Kiko Casilla to join Real Madrid.

Iker Casillas' departure to Porto has after spending all of his career at the club has left Real Madrid looking for two new goalkeepers as Keylor Navas is currently the only keeper in the first team squad.

Real are chasing Manchester United's Spain international, David de Gea, but Casilla, who was coached through the Real Madrid youth system is also an option and would probably be available at a cut price of around 5 million euros.

Although it would be a major setback for Espanyol to lose their first choice keeper, Gonzalez made it clear the Barcelona based club would not stand in Casilla' s way.

"It would be a unique opportunity for Kiko to go to Real Madrid and he can't say no to that. You would go there with your eyes closed because you are going to a number one club," said the Espanyol coach, who was delighted with the way the keeper continued to work.

"Kiko is a professional and he has not asked me to be let off training. He is working well and although there are some players who may have tried to have pressured to leave, he has not done that. He has kept to one side and that is something to value," commented Gonzalez. Endit
