Sudan summons S. Sudan ambassador in Khartoum over hostile acts

Xinhua, July 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

Sudan Foreign Ministry on Wednesday summoned South Sudan Ambassador to Khartoum in protest against Juba's support for Sudanese armed movements.

"Director of South Sudan's affairs at the Sudanese foreign ministry Abdalla Hassan Iyssa conveyed to the South Sudanese ambassador Sudan government's protest against Juba's support for the Sudanese armed movements and the negative media campaign by the South's pro-government newspapers against the country," Sudan foreign ministry spokesman Ali Al-Saddiq said in a statement.

The ambassador also reiterated the importance of respecting the international conventions and good neighborliness between the two countries.

Al-Saddiq asked the ambassador to demand his government to stop these hostile acts, noting that the ambassador pledged to convey Sudan's protest to his government as soon as possible.

Sudan and South Sudan are exchanging accusations of supporting rebel groups in each country, as both sides failed to define their joint border with each side claiming sovereignty over the disputed border areas. Endit
