Washington strongly supports Serbia in joining EU: visiting U.S. official

Victoria Nuland, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, expressed here on Tuesday the support of the United States towards Serbia's European integrations and reforms.

According to the press release of the Serbian government, Nuland and Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic discussed in their meeting bilateral relations and European integrations.

Nuland said that the government in Washington strongly supports Serbia on her European path and added that the United States has the intention to help Serbia secure its energy supplies.

The press release reads that Vucic assured Nuland that Serbia is dedicated to European integration process as its foreign political priority, while on the other hand it continues to build political and economic stability, which has impact on the whole region.

Nuland, who visited Belgrade as a part of her regional tour aimed to support democratic reforms, besides Vucic also met with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic and discussed regional issues and European perspective of Serbia.

During her meeting with Nikolic, Nuland praised the progress that Serbia achieved in reforms aimed at modernizing the country, while Nikolic stressed that Serbia has deserved with its past work to join EU as soon as possible. Endit
