Bangladesh reshuffles cabinet to infuse dynamism

In a major cabinet reshuffle, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Tuesday inducted three new faces into her cabinet and promoted two junior ministers as full ministers.

President Abdul Hamid administered the new ministers and state ministers' oath taking at Bangabhaban, his office-cum residence, around 6:30 p.m. (local time.

State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and State Minister for Science and Technology Yeafesh Osman were sworn-in as cabinet ministers to their respective ministries.

Of the new faces, Nurul Islam Bsc was sworn in as a full minister of The Expatriates'Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry while Tarana Halim and Md Nuruzzaman as state ministers.

Halim was given the charge of Post and Telecommunications Ministry, while Nuruzzama got The Ministry of Food.

Officials say the changes are aimed infusing more dynamism into Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's incumbent about a one and a half year old government which faces difficulties of maintaining stability. Endi
