El Salvador still alive after draw against Costa Rica

El Salvador is still alive in CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament after a 1-1 draw with Costa Rica on Saturday night in Houston, U.S..

The Salvadorian squad led by Alberto Roca tied 1-1 with Costa Rica in Group B second matchday.

Midfielder Dustin Corea hit the equalizer at the 92nd minute after Bryan Ruiz scored for Costa Rica in the 60th.

Both squads have two draws, but Costa Rica is better positioned by goal difference.

With this result, the Salvadorian team keeps the hope to qualify for the second round and the main challenge is to win against Jamaica, which leads Group B after defeating Canada on Sunday.

Next Tuesday, in the last matchday of Group B, Jamaica will face El Salvador, while Costa Rica will play against Canada.

CONCACAF Gold Cup is the regional tournament including 12 teams divided in three groups.

The first teams of each group and the two best third places will qualify for quarter-finals. On Sunday Trinidad and Tobago will face Cuba and Guatemala will play against Mexico as part of Group C. Endi
