United States tops swimming medal table at Universiade

Shannon Vreeland won four gold medals to help United States top the medal table as the swimming competetion concluded at the 2015 Gwangju Summer University Games here on Saturday.

Vreeland, an Olympic gold medalist became the first quadruple gold medalist of this Universiade by winning women's 200m freestyle, women's 100m freestyle and women's 4X200m freestyle. She also won the title of women's 4X100m freestyle relay with her teammate after setting a Universiade record on July 4.

United States collected a total of 15 golds, 10 silvers and 9 bronzes to lead the swimming medal table, followed by Japan with 5-7-9. Russia settled for the third place with 5-2-4, while China placed fourth with 4-2-0. Endi
