2017 Winter Universiade adds three new sports

The 2017 Winter Universiade to be hosted by Kazakhstan's Almaty will add three new sports, according to FISU, the world university games governing body.

The sports program of the upcoming Winter Universiade now includes alpine skiing team competition (instead of the combined classification), new parallel slalom snowboard competition (besides the giant slalom) and the aerials in addition to freestyle skiing.

The decision came from a FISU Executive Committee meeting. The next meeting of the FISU Executive Committee is scheduled to take place in February 2016 in Brussels. Endit
