Tokyo shares ended mixed Friday with Nikkei stocks index edging down as sentiment here remained cautious ahead of a European summit on Sunday that may make final conclusion on the ongoing Greece debt crisis.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 75.67 points, or 0.38 percent, from Thursday at 19,779.83.
The turnover was about 3,211.9 billion yen (about 26.35 billion U.S. dollars).

BEIJING -- Chinese shares staged a strong two-day rebound after moves by the government to bolster the market.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index leaped 4.54 percent to finish at 3,877.8 points on Friday. The Shenzhen Component Index surged 4.59 percent to close at 12,038.15 points.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, climbed 4.11 percent to end at 2,535.89 points.
Combined turnover of the two bourses shrank to 927.76 billion yuan (152.09 billion U.S. dollars) from 950.8 billion yuan the previous trading day.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks rose 508.49 points, or 2.08 percent to close at 24,901.28 points on Friday.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 24,567.92 and 25, 015.17. Turnover totaled 180.22 billion HK dollars (about 13.96 billion U.S. dollars).

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished on Friday down 3.45 percent against the previous trading day.
The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased by 47.29 points to 1,325.19. A total of 96,441 shares worth about 639 million Lao kip (about 79,000 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher on Friday.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 3. 36 points, or 0.17 percent, to 2,031.17 at the close. Trading volume stood at 371.85 million shares worth 6.5 trillion won (5.76 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- Australian stocks finished in the black following a bounce in Shanghai's market and gains in the price of iron ore on Friday.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 closed 0.38 percent up to 5492 points, while the broader All Ordinaries gained 0.4 percent to 5478.1 points.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.2 percent higher on Friday.
The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 14.9 points to 7392.59. The all-share index went up by 7.86 points, or 0.19 percent, to 4227.21.
Trading volume reached 6 billion shares worth 6.8 billion pesos (151.1 million U.S. dollars).

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 627.28 points on Friday, up 5.18 points, or 0.83 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.
About 216.869 million shares worth 3.475 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (160.35 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange.
VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 648.73 points, up 2.15 points, or 0.33 percent.
