Myanmar para-athletes squad gears up for ASEAN Para Games

Myanmar para-athletes squad is gearing up for the 8th ASEAN Para Games to be held in Singapore by the end of this year, sports circle said Friday.

A total of five Chinese coaches are giving one-month training to 62 Myanmar para-athletes for five sports out of 10 to be competed in the games set for Dec. 3-9.

After the training in the country, the national squad will take three-month training in China in August.

At present, altogether 150 selected para-athletes are being camped in Yangon as a preparedness for the games.

The Singapore Games aims to promote friendship and solidarity amongst persons with disabilities in the ASEAN region through sport.

Myanmar are expecting to win 15 gold medals in swimming events.

Myanmar won a total of 34 gold medals in the 7th ASEAN Para Games hosted by Myanmar last year. Endi
