The Philippine government is monitoring over 100 people who were possibly exposed to a 36-year- old foreigner who was earlier tested positive of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERSCoV), the Department of Health (DOH) said Friday.
DOH spokesman Lyndon Lee Suy said that the 112 individuals are being monitored by the Regional Epidemiology Surveillance Unit until they complete the 14-day observation period.
Meanwhile, the 36-year-old foreigner who had MERSCoV would soon be discharged from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine in Muntinlupa City, Metro Manila after two tests yielded negative results from the virus, he said.
The foreigner was the second MERSCoV case in the Philippines after a female Filipino nurse who came from Saudi Arabia was tested positive of the virus in February when she returned the country. She has recovered from sickness. Endi
