Croatia hosts forum on int'l development cooperation

The 10th Croatia Forum, attended by 25 foreign ministers, officials from NATO and European commission, started Thursday in Dubrovnik, the coast city of Croatia.

The three-day forum mainly focused on the topic of international development cooperation, including discussion on resolving the immigration and the Greek crises.

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said at the forum that development assistance not only a moral issue but also an interest as well because security threats could be eliminate only by development assistance and international cooperation.

For the current Mediterranean immigration issue, the countries must act together to deal with it, she said, adding immigration quotas can be a temporary solution, but sometimes it would bring out contrary results.

Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said the immigration issue and Greek debt crisis were the two biggest challenges for European security.

The immigrant crisis had probably not culminated yet, while the Greek crisis was no longer only an economic problem but also a security issue, he said.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said that stability, security and peace should be a common goal and without security the development assistance was not possible. Endit
