Jordan backs bid to restore stability in Yemen

Xinhua, July 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Jordan on Thursday voiced full support to restore stability in Yemen and back the latest UN resolution to address the situation in Yemen, the state-run Petranews agency reported.

Jordan fully support the legitimate Yemeni government and is a major supporter to Yemen's unity, stability and security, Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said at a meeting in Amman with Yemen's newly-appointed Vice President Khaled Bahah.

Jordan is ready to provide all humanitarian support, human resourcs and medical supplies as well to Jordan.

The Yemeni official expressed hope that the Houthi rebels will return to wisdom and the right path. He expressed hope that they will be part of the formation of the future of Yemen.

Referring to the 2216 UN resolution on Yemen, Bahah said the resolution represents a point of reference for solving the Yemeni crisis.

The UN Security Council drafted a political strategy for Yemen and gave international legitimacy to the military operations of the Arab coalition.

The Security Council, in resolution 2216, called on all countries to implement immediate measures to prevent sending weapons directly or indirectly to Ali Abdullah Saleh, Abdullah Yahya al-Hakim, and Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, in addition to other individuals named in the sanctions list and anyone acting on their behalf.
