British FTSE 100 up 1.40 pct on Thursday

FTSE 100 Index, the British benchmark stock market gauge, Thursday increased by 1.40 percent, or 90.93 points, to 6,581.63 points.

Associated British Foods' share price increased by 5.08 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. Taylor Wimpey, Hargreaves Lansdown, Barratt Developments and Mondi increased by 4.94 percent, 4.67 percent, 4.37 percent and 4.22 percent respectively.

Next led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 1.67 percent, followed by Randgold Resources Ltd. (0.95 percent), Sainsbury (0.39 percent), Sports Direct International (0.35 percent) and Rolls-Royce Holdings (0.20 percent). Endit
