Chilean star Vidal to donate sports equipment as payment for infraction

Chilean soccer star Arturo Vidal, who crashed his Ferrari under the effects of alcohol and insulted police authorities on June 16, agreed to donate sports equipment to compensate his infractions, local media reported Wednesday.

The Juventus player, showing up in San Bernardo's Court House (near Santiago), to face the accusations of insulting authorities and drunk driving. Days ago, the Chilean star crashed his car while Copa America tournament was being held in his country.

According to local media, Vidal's lawyer and the public prosecutor agreed an alternative outlet instead of preventive detention.

The judge explained the alternative outlet was possible because Vidal had no previous convictions.

The public prosecutor ordered a two-year suspension of his driver license. It aslo ordered Vidal to offer public apologies to the police authorities and the donation of sports equipment. Endi
