Panamanians disappointed at Gold Cup 1-1 draw against Haiti

Xinhua, July 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Fans and local press on Wednesday expressed their disappointment over Panama's 1-1 draw with Haiti in the CONCACAF Gold Cup opening match on Tuesday.

Local daily La Prensa said "Panama missed the chance to win the match" in the regional tournament that features teams from North, Central America and Caribbean Football Associations.

Also, fans expressed their disillusionment and sadness on social media through memes and other graphic humor pictures.

Panamanian sports commentators said the result puts Panama against the Wall, because the national team will have to defeat Honduras next Friday to surely qualify to the next round of Gold Cup.

"We missed the victory. Our rival had only two opportunities and took advantage of one. We had many more but failed," said Alberto Quintero, Panamanian player who scored the goal.

Blas Perez, who has scored 10 goals in the history of Gold Cup, said despite the negative environment around, they will do everything they can to win and qualify to the next round. Endi
