Australian unemployment rate relatively steady

The Australian unemployment rate just 0.1 percent in June compared to May.

Australian Bureau of Statistics data released on Thursday showed it rose from 5.9 percent to 6 percent.

But the data also showed 24,500 fulltime jobs were added compared to a decrease of 17,200 part time jobs.

Economists earlier surveyed by Bloomberg had predicted a rise to 6.1 percent in June.

In further positive economic data, the number of hours estimated to have been worked by Australians last month rose 0.3 percent. Endi
