Zhang Sishi wins China's second swimming gold at 2015 Universiade

Zhang Sishi grabbed the second swimming gold for China after winning the women's 200m individual medley at the 2015 Gwangju Summer University Games here on Tuesday.

Zhang clocked in two minutes and 12.13 seconds to lift the title, beating Cox Madisyn of the United States to the second place in 2:12:17. Fullerton Ellen of Australia took the bronze in 2:13.48.

"I am really excited to claim the champion. Winning a gold in the international field is not an easy thing. I hope I can win more (golds) in the future," said Zhang, who won the national championship in 2014.

On Tuesday, the United States took three gold medals out of seven on offer after winning the women's 400m freestyle, the men's 200m breaststroke and the women's 4x200m freestyle relay.

In the men's 50m backstroke, Japanese Hasegawa Junya touched home first in 25.25, followed by Pizzamiglio Stef of Italy in 25.43. Ulyanov Nikita of Russia settled for a bronze in 25.49.

Masse Kylie Jacq awarded Canada a gold after dominating the women's 100m backstroke in 59.97. Pelton Elizabeth of the United States and her team mate Bootsma Rachel finished second and third place respectively.

Koptelov Evgeny of Russia crowned in the men's 200m butterfly in 1:54.79. Yajima Yuya of Japan took the silver in 1:55.73, while his teammate Umemoto Masayuki got the bronze in 1:56.12.

In the last competition of the day, United States set a Universiade record in 7:53.88 to win the women's 4x200m freestyle relay. China snatched the silver in 8:01.09 and the bronze medal went to Japan in 8:01.18.
