Chinese legislator Zhang Dejiang on Tuesday met with Vice Speaker of Republic of Korea (ROK) National Assembly Jeong Kab-yoon in Beijing.

Zhang, chair of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the top legislature, said meetings between President Xi Jinping and ROK President Park Geun-Hye in recent years on the China-ROK strategic partnership had charted the direction of ties.

Zhang recalled his visit to ROK in June, saying he and his ROK counterpart reached consensus on stepping up legislative cooperation.

Jeong was in Beijing for the 10th meeting between the ROK National Assembly and the NPC, which Vice Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Zhang Ping and Jeong co-chaired, on Tuesday.

"The meeting is a concrete step toward implementing the consensus," Zhang said.

Zhang reaffirmed the NPC's commitment to working with the assembly to make best use of the regular exchange mechanism, to enhance the relationship, improve cooperation and work to develop China-ROK relations.

Jeong said the assembly would like to improve cooperation with the NPC and boost ROK-China relations. Endi
