Australian marine experts are desperately trying to save a whale stranded in a Great Barrier Reef lagoon off Northern Queensland.
The stranded Dwarf Minke whale, estimated to be six to eight meters long, was first reported to the authorities on Friday. However, it is believed to have been stranded inside the Elford reef, approximately 100 kilometers offshore of Cairns for three weeks.
On Tuesday, Australian wildlife officers are attempting to coax it out through the maze of reefs separating the lagoon from the open water.
The Australian authorities believe the whale swam into the lagoon through a narrow passage, becoming disorientated.
The Australian authorities say the whale is in good health. Endi
