General secretary of Communist Party of Vietnam to visit U.S.

Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), is expected to visit the United States, said an announcement by the CPV Central Committee's Commission for External Relations on Friday.

The visit is scheduled from July 6 to 10, CPV online newspaper quoted the commission as saying. Trong will be the first general secretary of the CPV to visit the United States.

His visit came 40 years after the end of the Vietnam War and 20 years since the establishment of their diplomatic relations. Endi
