Tokyo stocks end slightly higher in run-up to Greek referendum

Tokyo stocks ended 0.08 percent higher on Friday as investors anticipated the result of Sunday's Greek referendum on conditions for an extended bailout could improve the ailing country's outlook.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 17.29 points, or 0.08 percent, from Thursday at 20,539.79. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 3.85 points, or 0.23 percent, to 1,652.09.

Gainers were led by securities, precision instruments and finance business issues.

The turnover was 2,157.60 billion yen (about 17.53 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
