Thousands of customers queue for hours to eat at Myanmar's first KFC

Thousands of hungry customers have been flocking to the first major U.S. fast food chain KFC in the commercial hub of Myanmar's Yangon over the last three days.

"Youngsters in our country are now able to eat like those young people in other countries. I want to taste KFC fried chicken for the first time so I queue there for hours," a 20-year old girl told Xinhua.

The operation of U.S.-based outlet in the country came after the United States lifted sanctions against Myanmar government in 2012.

Yoma Strategic Holdings, KFC's franchise partner in the Southeast Asian country, hoped to open more outlets across Yangon.

The Singapore-based Yoma Strategic Holdings is an investment company which owns large businesses in Myanmar including those in tourism, property and agriculture.

In 2013, South Korean burger chain Lotteria opened its first outlet here and it now has more than a half-dozen outlets in Myanmar.

KFC runs about 20,000 restaurants in more than 120 countries worldwide.
