Myanmar designates constituencies for 2015 general election

Myanmar's Union Election Commission (UEC) has designated constituencies for running the upcoming 2015 general election of four levels of parliament representatives preliminarily scheduled for the end of October or the beginning of November.

According to a UEC announcement published on Friday, 330 constituencies are set for election of the House of Representatives (Lower House), 168 constituencies for the House of Nationalities (Upper House), 644 constituencies for Region or State Parliaments and 29 constituencies for Region or State Parliaments for National Races.

The 2015 general election is to produce representatives to the next term of the parliament which will form a government for a new term starting 2016.

The current five-year term of the government which started from March 2011 is to expire in March 2016. Endi
