Pakistan, India exchange lists of prisoners
Xinhua, July 1, 2015 Adjust font size:
Pakistan and India on Wednesday exchanged lists of prisoners in accordance to an Agreement on Consular Access signed between the two countries in May 2008, the Foreign Ministry said.
Both countries are required to exchange lists of prisoners in each other's custody twice a year, on Jan. 1 and July 1, respectively.
Consistent with the provisions of this Agreement, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed over a list of 403 Indian prisoners (48 civil + 355 fishermen) in Pakistan to the High Commission of India in Islamabad.
A similar list of 278 Pakistani prisoners (251 civil + 27 fishermen) lodged in Indian jails was also handed over to the High Commission for Pakistan in New Delhi, a Foreign Ministry statement said.
Pakistan and India also exchange a list of their nuclear installations under a bilateral agreement that bars them from attacking each other's atomic facilities. Endi
