Xinhua, July 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched the "Digital India Week" aimed at empowering the people and extending services with the use of information technology.

Unveiling a logo for Digital India, Modi said the larger goal of Digital India included broadband connectivity in all villages, WiFi in all the schools and universities and public WiFi hotspots in all major cities by 2019.

The program will cover services in health, education, agriculture and banking, he said.

The vision is centered on three key areas of "digital infrastructure as a utility to every citizen", "governance and service on demand" and "digital empowerment of citizens". Endi
