Safety of Color Run in Singapore to be assessed

Xinhua, July 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the Singapore Civil Defence (SCDF) will assess the safety of using colored powder before granting approval for a coming Color Run in August, they said in a joint statement on Tuesday.

This follows a dust explosion in China's Taiwan over the weekend, which injured hundreds of partygoers with colored cornstarch involved. One person died in the incident and a Singaporean was among those who suffered burns.

SPF and SCDF are studying the dust explosion in China's Taiwan and working with the event organizer on the use of colored powder before granting the approval for the Color Run or other similar events.

The upcoming Color Run, in which participants are doused with different colored powders through a 5 kilometer route, will be held at Sentosa in Singapore on Aug. 22 and 23 for the third time. Endi
