Xinhua, July 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Africa Rail 2015, an exhibition of African rail, ports, harbor, aviation as well as transport security and safety, kicked off in Johannesburg on Tuesday with a total of 5000 attendees expected to visit the show.

Samukelo Madlabane, General Manager at Terrapinn, the company that organized this year's exhibition, told Xinhua that the show attracts exhibitors from all over Africa and overseas, including some from China.

The show is the continent's leading infrastructure event.

"The event gives African transport companies an opportunity to learn from each other as well as exchanging knowledge and technology.

"Above all we expect that a number of deals will be clinched," Madlabane said.

He said the exhibition being attended by companies from various countries, provides a good business platform.

Madlabane said, "In this exhibition we have also invited investors from all over the world in order to put them in touch with transport operators from all over Africa.

"We have also invited a number of vendors selling world class solutions to various transport operators. This is an event where we expect a lot of business transactions to take place under one roof,"said Madlabane.

He said he had no doubt that the exhibition has provided an opportunity to change the face of the African transport system.

"If you are looking at doing business in the transport sector, the best place to be is the Africa Rail exhibition.

"We want to move the transport sector forward in Africa," Madlabane said.

Hundreds of companies exhibiting at this year's show have erected huge stands where they have displayed all they can offer.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, a number of seminars and presentations are being held to promote robust interaction and information exchanges.

Discussions in these seminars include opportunities in the transport sector in Africa, ways of financing transport infrastructure, investment opportunities as well as new inventions and technology in the transport industry.

In her welcome remarks, Gina Bester, Terrapinn Managing Director, described the show as an event that provides a unique and exceptional experience.

"This is a unique experience designed to assist all transport operators, governments, investors and their partners to take advantage of opportunities in Africa.

"It exposes those in the industry to the latest trends, innovations and projects taking place across the African transport industry," said Bester. Endi
