Four players of Uganda's national football team, Cranes have attracted interest of top South African Premier League teams.
Issa Sekatawa, Chairman of Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) told Xinhua on Tuesday that his players Yasser Mugerwa, Saidi Kyeyune and striker Frank Kalanda will all leave next week for trails with top teams in South Africa.
"This is good news for us because we are praying that the players can impress during the trials so that they join the paid ranks," said Sekatawa.
South Africa's Orlando Pirates who ejected URA FC in the first round of the CAF Confederations Cup will take Mugerwa and Kyeyune for trials. Mugerwa who has been impressive since joining URA FC from SC Victoria University netted in the 2-all draw against Orlando Pirates.
Another URA FC player Kalanda will also be tested by Free State Stars FC, while KCCA FC defender Richard Kasagga heads to Mpumulanga Black Aces FC.
"This is very good for our players because if some of them can get professional contracts then it will improve them as players and the national team as well," said Uganda Cranes Coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic.
The Cranes Coach revealed that the players will travel after the national team faces Tanzania on Saturday in the return leg of the 2016 Africa Nations Championships (CHAN) qualifier at the Nakivubo Stadium.
Striker Geoffrey Massa (Bloemfontein City), Boban Zirintusa (Polokwane City) and goalkeeper Denis Onyango (Mamelodi Sundowns) are the only Ugandan players currently featuring in the South African Premier League. Endi
