Uganda to face Cote d'Ivoire in 2015 Africa Rugby Cup Tier 1B

Uganda will start their campaign against West African outfit Ivory Coast on July 5 when the 2015 Africa Rugby Cup Tier 1B starts here.

According to the tournament organizers Rugby Africa, Cote d'Ivoire who are ranked above Uganda in the African ranking will open against the hosts, Madagascar will take on Botswana while Mauritius will face Senegal.

The event which will bring together six nations with the winner qualifying for promotion to the Tier 1A will climax on July 11.

Ramzy Olinga, the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Rugby Union told Xinhua on Tuesday that they are making final touches to ensure that the tournament runs well.

"We expect teams to start arriving on Friday before they test the pitches on Saturday and action starts the next day," said Olinga.

"We call upon all Ugandans to come and support the team as we battle to win the title. First we need to battle to come out of the group so that we make it to the later stages of the event," said Uganda's assistant coach Robert Seguya.

John Duncan, Uganda's new coach who joined the team over a week ago from South Africa said he is impressed with the hard work the players have showed.

"We are getting on well and hope to put up a good performance," he said. Endi
