China condemns terrorist attack in Egypt

Xinhua, June 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

China on Tuesday condemned a terrorist attack in Cairo that killed Egyptian Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat and injured a number of civilians.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying made the remarks at Tuesday's news briefing. Hua also extended China's condolences to the family of the victim.

"China opposes all forms of terrorism and supports Egypt's efforts to safeguard stability," Hua said, expressing hope for an early return to stability and development in Egypt.

Barakat, 65, died Monday in a hospital in Cairo, Egypt, from injuries sustained in a car bomb attack earlier in the day. Nine other people were injured in the blast. Endi
