The photo exhibition on commemorating the 60-year anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Afghanistan was unveiled here Tuesday.

With the theme of Sino-Afghan friendship, around 60 photos with a time range of six decades were displayed in the Confucius Institute in Kabul University, including photos of high level exchanges between the leaders from both countries.

Chinese Ambassador Deng Xijun addressed the ribbon-cutting ceremony, saying Sino-Afghan friendship could be dated back some 2, 000 years ago along the ancient Silk Road. After the establishment of diplomatic ties, the relationship between the two countries was further enhanced with the frequent visits of the leaders from both sides.

Deng reiterated that China is willing to actively participate in the post-war reconstruction in Afghanistan and will lend a hand to the war-hit nation.

Zardash Shams, the deputy minister of information and culture, welcomed the photo exhibition, saying the Afghan-Sino bilateral ties has entered a new phase after 60 years of bilateral ties and should be elevated to a new high with more frequent cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

Abdul Razaq, a teacher at the Confucius Institute, expressed his interest in the exhibition. He said as a instructor teaching Chinese language, he witnessed the fast development of people-to- people exchanges between Chinese and Afghans in the past decade.

He said such photo exhibition facilitates two-way understandings between the two peoples and further promotes the cultural exchanges between the two countries. Endi
