Tokyo stocks plunge 2.88 pct on Greek debt default fears

Tokyo stocks plunged 2.88 percent on Monday, with benchmark Nikkei stocks index seeing its biggest points drop this year on concerns over a Greek debt default.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 596.20 points from Friday at 20.109.95. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 42.21 points, or 2.53 percent, lower at 1,624.82.

All industry categories lost ground, with decliners led by glass and ceramics and insurance.

The turnover was 2,657.37 billion yen (about 21.62 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
