Denmark unveils new Cabinet

Xinhua, June 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen unveiled his new Cabinet of 17 ministers on Sunday.

Rasmussen presented the Cabinet makeup to Queen Margrethe II at Amalienborg Castle, the queen's residence, in Copenhagen.

Denmark's center-right blue bloc won 90 out of the 179 seats in the Danish Parliament in June 18 elections. However, Rasmussen's Liberal Party, which won only 34 seats, had to establish a minority government after talks with other center-right parties failed.

"We are very aware that we are a minority government, and we have the ambition to cooperate broadly in Parliament," Rasmussen said after meeting with the queen.

Among the key posts, Kristian Jensen becomes the new foreign minister, while Claus Hjort Frederiksen gets the post of finance minister.

Although the new government is the weakest since 1973, Rasmussen said good opportunities lie ahead for stable cooperation in the legislative body. "As I read the political landscape, I see very good opportunities that we can cooperate," he said. Endi
