Xinhua, June 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

A moderate earthquake hit the northeastern Indian state of Assam early on Sunday morning, a senior official said.

"The quake, measuring 5.6 on the Richter Scale, jolted the state around 6.40 a.m. (local time). The epicentre was the district of Kokrajhar and aftershocks were felt in neighboring states," he said.

However, there have been no reports of any casualty or damage to properties, the official said.

A team of disaster management officials have rushed to the spot, he added. Endi
