HK bans import of poultry meat, products from Israel

Hong Kong has banned the import of poultry meat and products from Israel due to a reported additional outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 in the country, the food safety department said here on Wednesday.

A spokesman from the department said the department has contacted the Israeli authorities over the issue and will closely monitor information issued by the World Organization for Animal Health on avian influenza outbreaks in the country.

Hong Kong did not import any poultry meat or poultry eggs from Israel last year. Endi
